Scum-sucking pigs (sorry, I meant lawyers!)

Posted: August 14th, 2008 under All Else Galvez.

Considering the litigious state of our ever ethically diminishing society these days, I guess I’d better clarify one point before we move any further.

See that real pretty picture up top in the banner, the one showing the nice clear turquoise water? Well, of course, that’s nowhere near Galveston. [Note: This post refers to an earlier WordPress theme that I used for this blog; the picture in question no longer appears here. Still, I very much like the phrase "scum-sucking pigs," especially when used in reference to lawyers, so I left this post in even after I took the picture out.]

Galveston water is a grayer hue, as everybody knows (and while we’re at it, there’s also no palm tree, much less two, within spittin’ distance of the fishing pier).

Nope, that wholly fraudulent banner picture is an image apparently taken somewhere in the Florida Keys and cleverly “Photoshopped” by your humble blog author with a superimposition (did I make up that word?) of a photo I myself snapped (to dodge the lawyers) of the old 61st Street public fishing pier in Galveston. (For you handful of would-be litigators and other entitlement-seeking snot-nosed brats out there, that’s my disclaimer so save your subpoenas.)

Notwithstanding the foregoing (gosh, I sound like a lawyer, don’t I?), I’m happy to give credit where credit is due so please to check out the footer below, where you’ll find a few links contributed by the designer of this extra spiffy (and free) WordPress blog theme (that I have also tweaked with a crowbar, thus making me half-designer at least).

Okay, court adjourned!

  1. Well…if I may be allowed to alliterate as electively as our most illuminating…ughh…I can’t keep up. I’m so tired, I can’t even remember if alliteration has to start with the same letter or just the same sound…relaxing on that photoshopped pier strikes my as particuarly cathartic right about now, humidity and all.

Anyway, I’m just glad to be the first to post a comment on this new blog. Three cheers for our talented Galveston guide!!
