Thinking of you

It’s a warm September day back in 2003.

We’re strolling along the seawall in our shorts, flipflops, and Hollywood shades, with a salty sea breeze in our hair and the late afternoon sun in our eyes.

Like always in Galveston in the summer, there’s a carnival-like atmosphere along the boulevard, and we’re in sync, in a festive, laid-back mood.

On down the way is that open-air cafe, the one on the pier out over the cresting waves where we had a late dinner last night. Mmm, mmm, we can still smell the aroma of those delicious pan-fried prawns.
