About Go Fish

Welcome to the Go Fish Galvez blog!

Are you peckish for a pescado? Parched for a potable? Or just pinin’ to part with a pocketful of pennies? Well, if you’d like to do all that Gulf Coast island-style, you’ve come to the right, uh, place!

Here’s your invite to join me on this, my new blogging adventure, in, around, and through the lovely old Victorian seaport of Galveston, Texas, a sweet spot on the Southern coast that’s had a warm place in my heart since childhood.

Together we’ll explore the good, the bad, and the downright silly on this sandy strip of barrier beach formerly known to the Spaniards as Malhado, or “Island of Misfortune,” from her glory days as the “New York of the Southwest” in the faded past to her rebirth as a vibrant, fun, and sometimes-funky tourist town.

Ready? Let’s go!

Okay, that sounded swell and everything but actually it’ll be just me opining mightily and often on all manner of Galveston-related topics, all the while expecting you to swallow it hook, line, and sinker (notice the clever fishing reference), no questions asked, no refunds even with a receipt, sorry!

It’ll be fun for me, certainly, and hopefully for you, too. (If not, well, whatever.) But enough of all this! Where did I put the suntan lotion?
