Tippit gets a fence

Not exactly breaking news on CNN or anything, and nothing remotely significant for those of you out there in the world at large, but for the residents at 4806 Avenue O in the enduring burg known as Galveston, Texas—feline, canine, and, especially, this old monkey—a new backyard fence is, well, huge!

They say that fences make for good neighbors. And while I’m sure that’s true, I’m also certain that they make for fewer lawsuits, especially when a frequent inhabitant of said fenced backyard is one up and coming American Pit Bull Terrier.

But probably not due to Tropical Storm Ida, downgraded now from hurricane status and graciously giving Galveston a wide berth. Hopefully, this storm is the last, as the nervous season here on the island winds down to a happily uneventful close.

Jeepers and the porch

The weather’s great! What a lovely fall in Galveston. After a dry but thankfully not-so-hot summer, the rains finally came, perking up the palms and making us all smile.

Life is getting better.

So here’s a recent snapshot of my Galveston Islandy porch where I sit most evenings in my little rocking chair (to the left of the front door), watching the world go by.

It also makes a good vantage point for monitoring the comings and goings of my little black buddy, Mr. Jeepers (who can be seen here, exiting stage right). Read the rest of this entry »
